Allanburg Heritage Oak Tree c.1650
Sadly, this beloved oak tree was felled in a storm in 2023.
The Allanburg Tree was a magnificent 350 year old white oak and was visible to all those who travel here. It has been identified by members of the community as an important part of their neighbourhood.
Many associate it with their childhood; its long life provided pleasure since the 17th century, and in the 21st century it has been appreciated by a new generation of families and children in the area.
This mammoth oak tree was assessed by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority to have been in excellent condition. It was listed on the Honour Roll of Ontario Trees for many years and was the first designated natural history site in Thorold.
